Keeping the Water Clean

Here in the UAE, when one is tired of the malls and parks, one definitely heads towards to corniche.   The one in Sharjah is my favorite:  majority of the people come with families, it’s very clean and the masjids are gorgeous!  One of the many activities that people can enjoy while at the corniche is riding the abra.

And then there are those unsung heroes who work hard to maintain the water clean …

End of the day’s work … almost.

Because no matter how many signs and trash bins the municipality puts up, some people always find it their responsibility to spread waste and choke the environment to death.

Anyway, this cleaning job … it can get pretty boring …

Taking a moment to update FaceBook status through phone

But seriously, to all the men and women who work hard to keep our place nice and clean:  thank you so much!

  1. I agreee with you…. Great work to those who do work to maintain the cleanliness especially public places like these 🙂

  2. Very good topic to bring up !!
Its everybody’s social responsibility NOT TO litter the water. Even a tiny bit of waste thrown in, is adding to the bigger problem of Global Warming …

    1. It certainly isn’t a glamorous job, and I’m sure a lot of these workers would rather do something else had they a choice. I think it’s important that the government recognize them so that their services are valued.

  3. I agree, we should all be playing our part and try to keep the environment clean afterall we are a a part of it.
Its quite a tough job for those people, esp dustbin men, they have to wake up at a ridiculously early hour to empty the bins and in winter its sooo cold!

    Great pictures! 😀
