Asateer Scarves: An Online Boutique for Premium Scarves

“Don’t start a company unless it’s an obsession and something you love. If you have an exit strategy, it’s not an obsession.” –Mark Cuban, serial entrepreneur and investor.

Masood and I always knew and talked about how someday we would save up enough, invest some, retire early from our career, and start something of our own. There are several projects on our list, and we’re already working on a couple of them, but what I’d like to talk about today is Asateer Scarves.

Asateer is an Arabic word that pertains to stories or legends, or myths. Isn’t it already obvious that I love telling stories? I’ve also always liked this word. It reminds me of the magical Arabian Nights stories that my father used to tell me. It was, therefore, the first thing that came to mind when deciding a name. Years ago I had this idea of creating branded, premium scarves and hijabs for women who are confident in their beliefs, professional in everything they do, and who crave to travel and explore the world to learn and grow. I have envisioned scarves that have stories to tell, that invoke memories, and that make you feel good when you wear them.

Delivering the Asateer Experience

Asateer Scarves is still in its newborn stages, launched just ten days ago. I have shared pictures on Instagram and Facebook months before so some of you already knew about this project long before it was officially launched. I showed some of the scarves, the labels, and the green box.

It’s not just about buying another scarf. We can get that from any local store. We want for each client to receive a box of happiness, a gift, a delightful treat that she deserves. A woman’s Asateer experience begins the moment she visits the website and makes a purchase. We are ready to assist her in any way we can and are happy to answer any questions. I kept the end-user in mind when designing the layout of the website and made sure that it’s easy to navigate and find what you need. The experience continues when the parcel lands at her door, the joy of unwrapping the box, reading the personalised note, touching the fabric and, finally, wearing the scarf with love and pride.

Driven and Inspired by Your Feedback

“Feedback is a gift. Ideas are the currency of our next success. Let people see you value both feedback and ideas.” – Jim Trinka and Les Wallace

So many of you have provided your valuable advice and feedback for which we are immensely grateful! Thank you so much. I seriously consider each feedback; the positive ones brighten our day and inspire us to continue doing our best, and the negative ones give us the valuable opportunity to learn and improve.

As Asateer Scarves reaches more women, we try to get in contact with them to ask about their experience. Our relationship with them doesn’t necessarily have to end after they receive their scarves. We’d like to think of us as a community.

One of the most common feedbacks Asateer Scarves has received since the launch is that the box, the gold label and, most importantly, the premium scarves, are much more impressive in person. We are told that even though they have followed the Asateer journey from its conception they are still in awe when they received their parcels and touched the fabric for the first time!

Dreams and Future Goals

“One way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals.” – Michael Korda

I have a list of goals. They pretty much change and get updated like my New Year resolution list. But some things I am sure of, like Asateer Scarves getting its own Limited Edition prints that is inspired by Islamic art and culture.

The present collection of scarves has excellent fabric. There’s silk crepe, butter-soft chiffon, and jersey scarves. We have so many requests for easy-to-drape, non-slip hijabs, so next release will include cotton premium scarves.

I once read that there will always come a point in your business where you’re frustrated enough to want to pull your hair out. That actually came true for us. We didn’t literally pull our hair, but we were considering it! So now our goals also include for us to continue having hair on our heads, haha.

There are so many exciting ideas in line and I’m bursting with excitement to want to tell you. But I obviously can’t reveal them now. So stay tuned!

Will You Make Our Day by Following Us on Social Media?

But wait, did I tell you that we also wanted us to make a difference in someone’s life together? With each purchase you make with Asateer Scarves, we donate a percentage to Nusratul Masakeen. It’s a charity organisation in India that regularly provides basic necessities to orphans, elderly, and the disabled. Our family has been a part of this small organisation for years now and we know the wonderful men and women who work hard to keep it going. I hope we could do even more in the future, insha’allah. So not only are you buying premium scarves, you’re making a difference in someone else’s life as well.

You can see and shop our scarf collection on the Asateer Scarves website.
